What is HRM?
Human: The skilled employees in an organization
Resources: Limited availability or scarce or replenishable
Management: Planninng,Organizing and Controlling of such
limited resources to achieve the organizational goal.

In other words HRM is a unit of an organization to maximize the performance of the workforce to meet the employer’s objectives(Tutorials point, 2018) .

HRM is a tactical and comprehensible
method to manage the people or employees of an organization who are considered
the most valuable asset of an organization; they will contribute to achieve the
organizational goals (Armstrong, 2006).
Human Resource Management is
“concerned with the people dimension in management. Since every organization is
made up of people, acquiring their services, developing their skills,
motivating them to high levels of performance and ensuring that they continue
to maintain their commitment to the organization are essential for achieving
organizational objectives. This is true regardless of the type of organization government
business, Education, Health, regression or social action” (David & Robbins, 1994) .
HRM is a process of employing the right person for the job, training them, compensating them, developing HR policies, evaluating performance, reward, grievance, termination and developing strategies to retain them. HR management should have the qualities of knowing the industry well, leadership and effective negotiation skills.
Key functions of HRM
Employing staffs procedure,
evaluating performance, creating an effective compensation and benefits system,
training and development activities are far more essential to the needs of an
organization or business (Becker, et al., 1997).

To hire people for the job of
their organization is the key responsibilities of the HR. They design plan to
recruit appropriate people to fill the job vacancies against required roles in
an organization (Human
Resource Excellence, 2017).
Acquiring the best applicant for a job role will be an added advantage for an organization. Ineffective recruitment will be a disruption for the organization which could reduce the productivity and profitability.

Providing training to the employees
according to the requirement of the organization is also a role of HR. The
employees get the opportunity to shape their skills and also develop new skills
which will help them to develop their career in the organization (Human Resource Excellence, 2017).

Compensation is a direct influencing factor on employee
motivation. Effective compensation system which plays a key role attracting
talents and it makes employees to put their maximum effort to achieve the
organizational goals and objectives (What is humanresource, no date). (Eg: - Salary, allowances, incentives,
bonuses, etc.)
Salary and Wages is not enough to
retain staff these days. Also other caring factors should be considered such as
health care, retirement plan, housing, vacation, medical leave, social
security, education, transportation, overtime and etc. This kind of benefits
also should be provided by the employer to make a better life for their employees (What is humanresource, no date).
Evaluating performances
Performance evaluation is a process to acknowledge the performance
of the employee and give suggestion to improve themselves. By communicating the
employees individually and getting information time to time regarding their performance
for apprising and motivating them to do their job role more efficiently and to take
up higher positions (Human Resource Excellence, 2017).

Sometimes disputes on several
issues can arise between the employee and employer in that point HR will act as
a negotiator and consultant to resolve the issues effectively. They will hear
the grievances of the employees and will find suitable solutions to solve the
issues (Human Resource Excellence, 2017).

As same as recruiting termination is also inevitable in an
organization. This is important to keep a disciplined environment in an
organization. There could be several occasion to terminate an employee such as who
is not competent enough to perform well, who violates the procedure and policies
of the organization and self-termination. The HRM should do the termination in
a certain manner that want. disrupt the name of the organization (What is humanresource, no date)..
HRM should have mechanism to retain the talents in the organization. Mostly it done
by good remuneration package and effective benefits. This is important of an
organization to keep their talents within in.
